Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 19, 2026
United We Go ("United We Go," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving youth and families in Michigan's Great Lakes Bay Region. This policy explains what information we collect through www.unitedwego.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
• Information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and anything you write when you fill out a form, sign up for our newsletter, register for an event or program, apply to volunteer or intern, create a member account, or contact us.
• Program registration information: for youth programs, a parent or guardian may give us the child's name, age or grade, school, emergency contact, and information needed to keep the child safe, such as allergies or accommodations.
• Information collected automatically: like most websites, our site (hosted by Wix) automatically collects basic technical information such as your browser type, device, IP address, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through cookies and similar tools.
Donations and payments
Donations and payments are processed by PayPal. We do not receive or store your full card or bank account number. PayPal shares with us your name, email address, the amount, and the date of your gift so we can thank you and send a tax receipt. PayPal's use of your information is covered by PayPal's own privacy policy.
How we use information
• To run our programs, events, and festivals and to contact participants and families about them
• To process and acknowledge donations and provide tax receipts
• To send our newsletter and updates, if you sign up
• To respond to questions and volunteer, intern, artist, and partner inquiries
• To keep participants safe and meet legal and grant-reporting requirements (reported in summary form, without names, where possible)
• To understand how our website is used and improve it
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
When we share information
We share information only when needed:
• Service providers that help us operate, such as Wix (website hosting, forms, member accounts, email) and PayPal (payments). They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
• Program partners, such as a school or community center hosting a program, only as needed to run that program safely.
• When required by law, or to protect the safety of a child or anyone else.
Children's privacy
Our programs serve young people, so we take children's privacy seriously. Registration and sign-up forms for youth programs are completed by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information without a parent's permission, contact us and we will delete it.
Photos and videos
We take photos and video at our programs and events to share our work. We share images of youth participants (on our website, social media, or printed materials) only when a parent or guardian has signed a media release. We do not publish children's full names with their photos without permission. To ask us to remove a photo or video, email info@unitedwego.org and we will remove it from our website and social media accounts.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies set by Wix to make the site work, remember your preferences, keep you signed in to your member account, and collect basic visitor statistics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly.
Email updates
If you sign up for our newsletter, we will email you about our programs, events, and ways to get involved. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us to be removed.
How we protect and keep information
We use reasonable safeguards, including password-protected accounts and secure hosting through Wix, and we limit access to the people who need it. No website is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent online. We keep information only as long as we need it for our programs, records, and legal obligations.
Your choices
You may ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you or your child, or to stop sending you emails. Email info@unitedwego.org and we will respond within 30 days.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, such as PayPal, our merchandise store, social media, and partner organizations. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
