🎙️ Young Voices, Big Growth: A Season of Stories from Our Voice of Youth Podcast

At United We Go, we believe every child has a story worth sharing — and the confidence to share it can shape their future in powerful ways.

For the past two years, our Voice of Youth Podcast Program has been running at Hemmeter Elementary School, empowering 4th and 5th grade students to build confidence, communication skills, and self-belief through podcasting.

Each semester, students record around 20 podcast episodes, shared on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. These episodes give young voices a platform to talk about what matters most to them — from school life and friendships to hobbies, music, pets, sports, and holiday traditions.

🌟 A Season Full of Student Stories

Our newest episodes highlight student creativity, curiosity, and growing confidence:

  • Cool Christmas Kids: Ruby’s Holiday Magic

  • Holly Jolly Gang: Christmas with Peyton

  • Christmas Wish List: Fish, Uggs & Holiday Hopes

  • Lions All the Way: Goff, Goals, and Gridiron Dreams

  • Sky-High Showdown: Kirby Air Riders vs. Mario Kart

  • Sweet Traditions: Lindor & Homemade Christmas Cookies

  • Choosing Companionship — Dogs, Horses, and Memories

  • Mini Mic: Addie’s Favorite Singers and Swift Memories

  • Kays for Cats — Why Maine Coons Steal the Spotlight

  • School Scramble — Micah on Why School Feels Too Long

Each episode gives students real-world practice in asking questions, sharing opinions, listening to others, and expressing themselves with confidence.

💬 From “I Can’t” to “I Can”

Many students join the program feeling unsure about speaking up. Before Podcast Club, some shared that they:

• Didn’t feel comfortable talking to strangers

• Avoided conversations

• Struggled to ask questions

• Only played with the same small group of friends

After just one or a few semesters, students tell us they:

• Feel confident talking to new people

• Ask better, more thoughtful questions

• Enjoy participating in conversations

• Feel comfortable making new friends

One student shared they used to stay quiet because they were afraid of saying the wrong thing. Now, they proudly ask questions during interviews. Another said they used to only play with certain friends — now they enjoy connecting with many classmates.

These are powerful steps toward confidence, communication, and connection.

🎧 More Than a Podcast

The Voice of Youth Program helps students:

• Speak confidently in group settings

• Ask thoughtful questions

• Feel comfortable being interviewed

• Share ideas without fear

• Step out of their shell

Students learn that their voice matters — and that curiosity is something to celebrate.

🌱 Why This Matters

When young people feel confident communicating, they’re better prepared for school, relationships, and the world beyond the classroom. Podcasting gives them real-life practice in listening, speaking, and critical thinking — skills that support lifelong success.
